DAT relies on VERSO for ESG report, climate footprint report and double materiality

Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT) wants to integrate sustainability into its core business. An important building block was the publication of the first voluntary sustainability report in accordance with the DNK as well as a climate footprint report. This is now being followed by preparations for the CSRD with VERSO.

DAT

Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH (DAT) is the neutral data authority of the automotive industry and thus the neutral link between the various players in the automotive sector such as workshops, car dealerships, motor vehicle expert offices, insurance companies, banks, leasing companies, vehicle manufacturers, tax consultants or lawyers, as well as judges who also benefit from the relevant data, technologies and services of DAT. As an internationally active company, it collects comprehensive static and dynamic vehicle data in accordance with its mandate, processes it and makes it available to the industry across the board, in particular via IT systems such as SilverDAT® and corresponding interfaces.

The challenge at DAT

DAT is aware of its social and ecological responsibility. That is why the company has set itself the major goal of integrating sustainability into its core business. An important building block towards greater transparency and continuous improvement was the publication of the first voluntary sustainability report in accordance with the DNK and a climate footprint report. The first report had to fulfill two requirements: It should reflect the status quo for the 2023 reporting year, but also allow initial comparisons to be made with previous years. The carbon footprint should therefore also cover the year 2022. Another important task was to establish efficient processes and central data collection.

The solution

DAT has chosen VERSO as a partner for its holistic sustainability management. Supported by VERSO consultants, all relevant ESG data was collected in the ESG Hub and a sustainability report was created. The Climate Hub was used to create a climate footprint report in all three scopes in accordance with the established GHG Protocol and to track the progress of the decarbonization strategy. Both software solutions are directly linked to each other, making them a reliable single source of truth.

The result

DAT produced its first DNK sustainability report with VERSO. The ESG Hub provides the data basis for sustainability management and reporting of today and the future. The sustainability report was published as a separate website in DAT’s own corporate design and serves as a basis for future measures and strategies. The climate balance sheet has given DAT an overview of its greenhouse gas emissions and possible levers for reducing them – presented with appealing graphics in their corporate design. The climate consultancy has enabled the DAT team to draw up the climate footprint report themselves in future and to implement and monitor the climate targets and measures. “Now we can gradually reduce our GHG emissions and track the development of our decarbonization strategy using the VERSO software,”explains Sustainability Manager Vivien Schultze. DAT was also able to offset emissions directly via ClimateGrid, VERSO’s partner company for certified carbon offsetting projects. The projects and the processing of CO2 offsetting are integrated directly into the VERSO software, so that no additional registration or data transfer was necessary.

What comes next:

DAT is now preparing for CSRD reporting and is using a new tool from VERSO for this purpose: our AI-supported solution for the double materiality analysis (DWA). The DWA forms the basis for a CSRD-compliant ESG report. Our software makes it possible to identify a company’s material topics and the associated impacts, risks and opportunities (IROs) in an optimized process. The time and costs that the company saves with the new VERSO solution convinced DAT’s sustainability team. We look forward to continuing our collaboration!
