That depends on your data situation. With a connected ERP and automated factor assignment, a PCF can be created significantly faster than through manual research. For portfolios with many products, CSV import and API integration are key to scaling.

Is AI-supported PCF calculation just as standards-compliant as manual entry?
Yes. The AI doesn’t change the underlying methodology, it only speeds up data preparation and assignment. Every emission factor stays versioned and traceable, whether it was assigned manually or with AI support.
How many products is the Product Carbon Footprint software suited for?
Climate Hub is built for getting started with individual products just as much as for portfolios with thousands of products. Through CSV import, API integration, and AI-supported factor mapping, calculation scales without manual effort growing proportionally.
Is calculating a Product Carbon Footprint legally required?
There’s currently no general legal requirement to calculate a PCF. Still, it’s becoming a practical necessity for many companies: customers along the supply chain increasingly demand it, CBAM requires product-related emissions data for certain goods categories, and financing requirements increasingly assume reliable climate data as well. Companies that build a clean PCF balance sheet early are prepared for these requirements instead of having to scramble to meet them later.
Can I calculate a PCF without an ERP/API integration?
Yes. The Climate Hub calculates your PCF even without an API connection to your ERP, since activity and bill-of-materials data can be imported directly from Excel. The API integration pays off especially if you want to recalculate many products regularly or already have a well-maintained ERP. For getting started, if you have limited data or want to calculate individual products, the Excel import is enough.
